Coming Soon: Animal Portrait Artist Colin Castle!!!

Recently I took some time out to spend with my wife Anne and we headed off to a beautiful little village near to where we live called Hambledon, where it just so happened that an Art Exhibition was being held in the Village Hall. It was here that I first met Artist Colin Castle and was completely blown away by his work!

Colin, who has recently been commissioned by the Royal Household, specialises in Pet/Animal Portraits and the quality of his work is something very special indeed. Being able to create a mood, show the true personality of the subject and make the viewer really think about what they’re looking at is a skill that Artists and Photographers alike need to have, and it’s this skill that Colin possesses in abundance! It’s for this reason that I asked Colin if he would appear on this predominantly Photography related blog as a Guest because when all is said and done, we’re all involved in the creation of art in some form or another, right?

Having spent more time with Colin recently, and now having been commissioned to photograph him for his promotional and media related material, I’m very excited about him appearing here on the blog in the near future and sharing some of the stories behind his work. Photographer, animal lover or maybe an animal loving Photographer…you’re going to love it:)

In the meantime be sure to head over to Colin’s web site: www.colincastleart.com

Enjoy

Glyn - Hi David…Just couldn’t resist asking Colin to be a Guest after seeing the quality of his work and also listening to how he approaches a portrait; definitely something to be learned.

Cheers,
Glyn

David Kelly - Glyn,

Sounds like it will be a very interesting post. At my camera club we have an annual ‘Photographers vs Artists’ competition night where an external judge compares our best images against local artists’ paintings. Always a fun time and a great night for seeing local art work (in both media) though one were the vote doesn’t always go the photographic way :-)

BTW Had a brief look at Colin’s site and love ‘Sunrise over the River Dart’.
