Here’s a shot I took around New Years Eve whilst passing through Beaconsfield - a village near to where we live. The idea behind this shot was to simply practice lighting a subject, in this case my wife Anne, with off camera flash and to also capture the lights behind her which were draped over some trees. The trick with a shot like this is to use just the right amount of power in the flash so as not to wash out the skin tones.
