My YouTube Follow friday (#FF)

Social Media is growing day by day giving us countless ways to connect with and ‘follow’ people with similar interests or who work in similar fields. So this week rather than a Twitter Follow Friday (#FF) I’m giving you my YouTube Follow Friday (#FF) so you can check out those folks that I subscribe to on YouTube that share all manner of instructional and inspirational videos.

Zack Arias: Last year Zack put together a video called ‘Transform’ for his Guest Post on Scott Kelby’s blog that literally rocked the photography world. Hand on heart there’s no video out there that has moved me as much as this hence why I’m including here for you to watch; an honest ‘from the heart’ video that in my opinion is a must!!!

A.J. Wood: My good friend from Dallas, Texas, A.J. is a guy who loves to teach. InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, anything Adobe. Call him a Creative Generalist or Digital Artisan, the only thing he talks about more than Adobe products is his family. If you’re interested in learning Adobe then A.J. is you’re man!
Bert Stephani: Superb portrait photographer based out in Belgium who’s work I draw alot of inspiration from and have been following for some time now; a really great, down to earth kind of guy!
Joe McNally: Does Joe really need any introduction? Superb series of videos that are regularly added to; humorous, inspiring and wonderfully educational!
Tim Wallace: If you enjoy looking at, and taking inspiration from stunning photography then you really do need to check out Tim’s YouTube channel. Full of breathtaking slideshows and regularly updated this is definitely one to subscribe to.
Chase Jarvis: Chase’s YouTube channel is packed full of instructional and inspiring videos. If you want to learn from one of the best in the game then I strongly advise that you take a look through and subscribe to Chase’s channel.

YouTube make it real easy for you to be notified when those people you follow add another video to their page. All you need to do is to click on the ‘Subscribe‘ button and from then on you’ll receive an email direct to your inbox giving you details of the latest updates:

Keith Hammond - FF YouTube, another great first Glyn, i follow all your mentioned, Zack’s Transform vid, well i have watched it so many times and as you say from the heart, he put out a piece of himself with that vid, i bet he is a great guy to meet

David Kelly - Glyn, although I’ve been reading Scott’s blog for sometime now I missed Zack’s post - maybe it was posted before I started following it regularly, but flipping ‘ell how the heck did I miss something like this? Brutal, honest and full of self disclosure. It just goes to show how all our ‘heroes’ out there in whatever field we admire (photography, music, sport, business on so on) are still just human and probably have, or are sharing similar, human experiences as we are - the highs, the lows, the self doubts etc

I got the impression that Zack was a genuine guy from what I’ve been reading on his blog (particularly recently about his Photography 101 course, which sounds really good btw) and from some comments re: your experience on his OneLight workshop from the conversation we had, but this video re-enforces and confirms that impression soooo much. I know he’s had a tough time getting to where he is now but it’s nice to think that such guys who we consider at the top of our pinnacle, still can come across as so ‘Joe Average’ in their personality and without a hint of ego in the room. Maybe you can persuade him to come over to the UK, or I save up enough money & seek to get the ‘never to be repeated again’ persmission from the missus to go attend his course in the States
(On a slight tangent I’ve met my musical guitar hero, Joe Satriani a couple of times and whilst to me he’s a metaphorical god, I couldn’t believe how down to earth and genuinely ‘normal’ he was - it always so pleasing to not be disillusioned regarding them when you meet such people)

As far as your FF Youtube post goes - another good idea indeed. I’m more than happy to have more people to investigate for FF stuff - too much information is never a bad thing, in this instance I think. I note that you make mention of Joe McN in your posting, are you or any of the other UK based or tester workshop guys going to see him on his UK leg of his seminars on Friday 23rd July @ Islington? Booked up my ticket for this event this week and just wondering if anyone fancies meeting up on the day?

Glyn - @Keith…Yeah Zack’s ‘Transform’ video is real ‘from the heart’ powerful stuff that has had quite an impact on me since first watching it and yeah he’s a great guy to meet; every bit what you expect from what you read and see. Totally genuine and a more generous guy you’d struggle to meet!

Glyn - @David Kelly…Powerful stuff huh? Zack’s video had a profound effect on me from the moment I watched it; reassuring and heartfelt. Getting the chance to go over to Atlanta and spend some time with him too was unforgetable; hand in heart he is everything you expect him to be….honest, humble, genuine and incredibly generous.

Glad you like the idea of the YouTube #FF. Thought as there are a number of people I follow that don’t use Twitter this would be a good way to share them.
