Back in June of this year I photographed the Wedding of Derek & Dorothy Partridge; two of the most amazing people I have ever met and who have made quite an impact on my life.
Having read a brief background of their lives which I posted earlier in the month here on the blog, many of you sent well wishes…all of which I printed out and gave to them both on their Wedding Day. Derek & Dorothy were clearly visibly moved by your kindness and well wishes and now some 6 weeks later, Derek has asked me to post the following message to you all:
A Personal Message to you all…
It is now just over a month since that wonderful day when Dorothy & I were married; the weather was superb and everything was just perfect.
We are now starting on the final chapter of our life and are so grateful to whoever looks down on us and has given us this happiness again; we can only hope that our experience helps others to keep looking for the same thing. We hope we have many years together and we will certainly not waste them. At the end of my speech after the Wedding Breakfast I read a short poem to Dorothy which summed up my feelings. I thought you may like to read it so I will include it here for you but before I do may I say to you all who have followed our experience on this web site…love life and love each other because time goes by so quickly…
‘I knew that I had been touched by love the first time I saw you and I felt your warmth and heard your laughter.
I knew that I had been touched by love when I was hurting from something that happened and you came along and made the hurt go away.
I knew that I had been touched by love when I quit making plans with my friends and started dreaming dreams with you.
I knew that I had been touched by love when suddenly I stopped thinking in terms of me and started thinking in terms of we.
I knew that I had been touched by love when suddenly I couldn’t make any decisions by myself anymore and I had a strong desire to share everything with you’
